   1940 \ December 15, 1947 - As a welcome to Pedro Albizu Campos' return to Puerto Rico, several University of Puerto Rico students raise the Puerto Rican flag at the Río Piedras campus. Student leaders (including Juan Mari Brás, Jorge L. Landing, and José Gil de la Madrid) are suspended by Chancellor Jaime Benítez.:
